NetZero Buildings wins place on the DfE’s £3bn framework to build Britain’s next generation of schools
NetZero Buildings, a pioneering manufacturer of carbon positive schools, has won a place on the Department for Education’s (DfE) new £3bn framework to build Britain’s next generation of schools.
The DfE programme is expected to deliver 30 schools a year, manufactured offsite using Modern Methods of Construction, with a projected pipeline of up to £3bn over the next four years.
The new offsite schools framework is divided into a £2bn programme of secondary school projects above 6,000 sq m and a £1bn initiative of 750 to 6,000 sq m primary and secondary schools.
NetZero Buildings has won a place on the highly-prized framework for primary schools and smaller secondary schools.
From its factory in Cambridgeshire NetZero Buildings has pioneered the production of carbon positive buildings in Britain and delivered 100 A+ EPC rated schools, which generate more energy than they consume.
Three months ago NetZero Buildings won the Environment accolade at the Department for Education’s Capital Supplier Recognition Awards, for its work delivering a new block of net zero carbon classrooms at the Humphry Davy Secondary School in Penzance.
Last year NetZero Buildings appointed Steve Murphy as Chief Executive and announced it was bringing its experience in net zero carbon offsite manufacturing to the housing market in order to create some of Britain’s most energy-efficient new homes.
Steve joined NetZero Buildings from ilke Homes, where he led development of the housing product and its manufacturing process, which took Britain’s best-known manufacturer of modular homes from inception to volume production.
Steve Murphy, CEO of NetZero Buildings, said: “As a business we are unashamed in our ambitions to create better schools and better homes which are delivered faster, at a lower cost than traditional build and most importantly help us to prevent climate change.”
“Winning a place on this £3bn framework will be transformational for NetZero Buildings and is a testament to the skills and expertise of our team who consistently deliver some of Britain’s best new school buildings.”
